1876, this was the year the Chicago Cubs began play as the Chicago White Stockings. The Cubs were part of the National League (NL) as a charter member. The West Side Grounds was where the first home games of the White Stockings was played at during that time. And after just one season, the team already established themselves as one of the best teams in the league and boasts of great players such as pitcher Albert Spalding and infielders Ross Barnes, Deacon White, and Adrian "Cap" Anson, which all became legends of the game. Spalding won 47 games and his teammate Barnes led the league in hitting percentage at an incredible .429 accuracy. More importantly, Chicago won the very first ever National League Pennant, the games top prize at that time.
After winning their back-to-back pennants in 1880 and 1881, team owner Hulbert died. Spalding who had already retired during that time, took over ownership of the club and placed Anson as the acting player and manager at the same time. In 1882, the Chicago White Stockings won their third consecutive pennant, establishing Anson the games very first true superstar. From 1876- 1886, Anson led the team to 6 national league pennants.
After the 1900 season, the American Base-Ball League formed as a rival professional league, and incidentally the club's old White Stockings nickname (eventually shortened to White Sox) would be adopted by a new American League neighbor to the south.
In 1902, Spalding sold the club to Jim Hart. The franchise was nicknamed the Cubs, although not officially becoming the Chicago Cubs until the 1907 season.
Today, the Chicago Cubs compete in Major League Baseball (MLB) as a member club of the National League (NL) Central division. The team plays its home games at Wrigley Field, located on the city's North Side. All in all, the Chicago Cubs have participated in 11 World Series and still holds the modern day -era winning record percentage of .763, when the team won a total of 116 games in the 1906 season. The last time the Chicago Cubs won the World Series was in 2016. This also ended the 108-year World Series title drought of this storied franchise.
Support all your favorite Chicago Cubs players by wearing your very own Chicago Cubs Paracord Bracelet and let them know that win or lose, your support to the team will never waver and you will always be a loyal and die-hard fan to the core.
