The Atlanta Falcons are a professional American football team and they have been competing in the National Football League for 51 years as a club member of the NFL’s National Football Conference South Division. The Falcons are based in Atlanta, Georgia and they played their home games at the Georgia Dome in downtown Atlanta from 1992 – 2016. It is believed that the Falcons will start playing their home game at the Mercedes-Benz Stadium during the 2017 season. The team is headquartered in Flowery Branch, Georgia.

During their time playing in the NFL, the Falcons have a record of 341 – 437 – 6 in the regular season and 9 – 13 in the playoffs. They have won division championships in 1980, 1998, 2004, 2010, and 2016. The Falcons have appeared in two Super Bowls, the first being in Super Bowl XXXIII against the Denver Broncos and the second being in Super Bowl LI against the New England Patriots.Them playing in another super bowl is not a farfetched thing so you better be prepared to cheer them on with an Atlanta Falcons paracord bracelet on your arm for extra luck!

Ever wondered how the Falcons got their name? A contest was held in August of 1965 where several participants suggested the name “Falcons”. Even though several participants have suggested the name, only one winner was announced. She is Miss Julia Elliot, a school teacher from nearby Griffin. She was chosen as the winner because of her reasoning, and her reasoning for the name was, "The falcon is proud and dignified, with great courage and fight. It never drops its prey. It is deadly, and has a great sporting tradition."

The Falcons are also known for their nicknames: The Dirty Birds and Grits Blitz. These nicknames also have their own history. The nickname “Dirty Birds” was made famous by running back Jamal Anderson. During the 1998-99 season, Anderson popularized a touchdown celebration, which was called the Dirty Bird. After scoring, Anderson would flap his bent arms up and down like wings and he would bounce as the crowd roars. To this day, current players still do the dance.

The “Grits Blitz” on the other hand became popular during the 1977 season. During the 1976 season, the Falcons was an awful defensive team, however everything changes in the 1977 season. Atlanta hired Leeman Bennet and with the help of assistant Jerry Glanville, they created a scheme, a system that changes Atlanta’s defense. During this season the Falcons had given up only 129 points, a record that hasn’t been broken by any team in the NFL. The Falcons have also led the league in categories such as fewest passing yards allowed and forced turnovers.

With the Falcons’ great history, every Atlanta Falcons fans is truly proud of this team, and every fan has their own way of showing their support and their pride for their team. There are fans who would buy tickets so they could watch the Falcons live on their regular games, other fans would buy Falcons jerseys with Matt Ryan’s name or Julio Jones’ name printed on them, and there are fans that would be sporting caps with the Falcons logo on them.

Another way for you to show your support for the Falcons is to wear this Officially Licensed Atlanta Falcons paracord bracelet which is proudly handmade by US Veterans!

    Rise Up! Go Falcons!
