  • On January 17, 1991, two days after the deadline set by the United Nations for Iraq to withdraw its forces from Kuwait, Operation Desert Storm commenced.

Operation Desert Storm was a  military operation to expel occupying Iraqi forces from Kuwait, which Iraq had invaded and annexed months earlier. Two dozen nations led by the United States of America formed a coalition and positioned more than 900,000 troops in the region. After Iraq's refusal to withdraw its forces from Kuwait, the 12 nation coalition forces bombarded Iraq's command control stations both from the air and the sea for more than five weeks. Coalition ground invasion followed soon after. Just 100 hours after the coalition's ground forces moved in, Iraq was driven away from Kuwait and cease-fire was declared.

Now, 26 years later after the Gulf War or Operation Desert Storm ended, President Trump signed Senate Joint Resolution 1, “A joint resolution approving the location of a memorial to commemorate and honor the members of the Armed Forces who served on active duty in support of Operation Desert Storm or Operation Desert Shield.” The resolution was sponsored by Indiana Sen. Joe Donnelly and Arkansas Sen. John Boozman and designates the location of the memorial on the National Mall.

The National Desert Storm War Memorial (NDSWM) is a new national monument that has been approved by Congress and President Trump (March 2017) to be built on 2021 on the National Mall in Washington, DC. It honors the 650,000 service members who served and 383 military members who died in Operation Desert Shield and Desert Storm.

Construction of the Memorial is led by the National Desert Storm War Memorial Association, a 501(c)3 organization in Washington, D.C. The association is led by a Honorary Board Chairman, Former President George H.W. Bush, and a Board of Directors comprised of Desert Storm Veterans from all branches of the military.

The National Desert Storm War Memorial is a great way to honor those who fought in the Gulf War. But there are also other ways for us to show how much we appreciate our Dessert Storm Veterans.

Saying thank you whenever we meet a Gulf War Veteran is one of the simplest yet very touching way to show that the efforts and sacrifices that they have done for our country will always be treasured and remembered. Another way is by strapping ourselves with the Handmade By Heroes Desert Storm Veteran Paracord Bracelet.

The Desert Storm Veteran Paracord Bracelet is not just your ordinary bracelet. Every Desert Storm Veteran Paracord Bracelet is one of a kind, uniquely designed and assembled by U.S Veterans themselves. All of the materials used in making the Desert Storm Veteran Paracord Bracelet are also of superb quality. And when you own a Desert Storm Veteran Paracord Bracelet, it will remind everyone who notices it that we should always thank and respect not the Gulf War Veterans but all veterans as well who at one time or another, sacrificed even their lives just to preserve peace and freedom not only for America but for all Nations as well.
