    About the Giants

The New York Giants are a professional American Football team and were established in 1925. They compete in the NFL as a member club of the league’s NFC East Division. The Giants are based in the New York metropolitan area and they play their home games at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey, which they shares with the jets in a unique arrangement. The team is headquartered at the Quest Diagnostics Training Center.

The Giants joined the NFL in 1925 along with four other teams however among that group the Giants are the only team that still exists. They are also the league’s longest-established team in the Northeastern US. Since joining the NFL, the Giants rank third in the league with eight NFL titles. They have won four championships in the pre-Super Bowl era (1927, 1934, 1938, and 1956) and have won four Super Bowl Championships (Super Bowls XXI, XXV, XLII, and XLVI). They have 19 championship appearances, more than any other team. The Giants have featured 28 Hall of Fame players including NFL MVP award winners Mel Hein, Y.A. Tittle, Lawrence Taylor, and Frank Gifford.

The Giants have several nicknames such as “Big Blue”, the “G-Men”, and the “Jints”. They are also occasionally referred to as the “Big Blue Wrecking Ball”, although this nickname is originally referred to the Giants’ defensive unit during the 80s and early 90s.

The Giants’ rivalry with the Philadelphia Eagles is the oldest of the National Football Conference East division rivalries. Their rivalry which started in 1933 is said to be the best rivalry in the NFL in the 21st century.

    Giants' Logo History

    1945 – 1949

The Giants used a logo called the “giant quarterback” logo. This logo featured a giant quarterback towering above the New York skyline and holding a football.

    1950 – 1955

The logo still features the Giant’s Quarterback about to throw a football on a red background. The wordmark “NEW YORK FOOTBALL GIANTS” still remains.

    1956 – 1960

The new Giants logo features a giant blue quarterback about to throw a football towering above the Yankee Stadium which was the team’s home from 1956 – 1973.

    1961 – 1974

The Giants started to use a stylized blue lowercase “ny” which stands for New York.

    1975

The stylized blue lowercase “ny” was changed to a stylized white and blue uppercase “NY”.

    1976 – 1999

After a year, the uppercase “NY” was replaced by the wordmark “GIANTS” written in bold italicized white capital letters.

    2000 – Present

The wordmark “GIANTS” was replaced by a stylized blue and red trim lowercase “ny”.
