  • More than half a century ago, America sent its finest and bravest men and women soldiers to fight a war halfway across the globe: The Vietnam War.  And when the last American combat troops left Vietnam on March 29, 1973 and came home to the United States of America, the soldiers that survived the war were welcomed by their families and friends but somewhat forgotten to be honored by others.  In fact, majority of them were not welcomed warmly. Some were even spat upon, called names and treated with disdain. This was mainly because, the Vietnam War, to most Americans during that time, was the war that the United States Of America should have not been involved with.

But today, 44 years later after the last soldier left Vietnam, the Vietnam War Veterans that are still alive today are now getting the respect and recognition that they rightly deserved for fighting in the Vietnam War more than 50 years ago.

In 2012, President Barack Obama proclaimed March 29 as Vietnam Veterans Day. He called upon all Americans to observe this day with appropriate programs, ceremonies, and activities that commemorated the anniversary of the Vietnam War.Since then, every year there are nationwide events and commemorative activities to honor Vietnam Veterans.

As a nation, we should never forget the sacrifices made by these courageous Vietnam Veterans who answered our country's call and served with honor. Every single one of them is a hero that should be honored and appreciated.

There are a lot of ways for us to show how much we appreciate our Vietnam Veteran brothers and sisters. One way to do this is by patronizing veteran themed products of organizations and companies that supports and helps veterans. The Handmade By Heroes Vietnam Veteran Paracord Bracelet is a good example of this.

The Handmade By Heroes Vietnam Veteran Paracord Bracelet is not like your ordinary bracelet. It is a specially designed and beautifully made bracelet by veterans themselves. And having the Vietnam Veteran Paracord Bracelet strapped around your wrist is one great way to show your support and appreciation to all Vietnam Veterans, dead or alive.

The families of the Vietnam War veterans should also be the first ones to support and appreciate them. They should be the first ones to use and patronize Vietnam War veteran themed products like the Vietnam Veteran Paracord Bracelet.

There are also many more ways to support and show our heartfelt gratitude to our Vietnam veteran brothers and sisters. One way is by displaying the American Flag in our homes as a sign of our support to every Vietnam war veteran living all over the country. Visiting our heroes and talking or just listening to them and to their experiences is another way to do it. There are also many support groups that concentrate on the needs of Vietnam war veterans. Giving donations in cash or in kind to these organizations will also go a long way in helping some of our Vietnam war veterans’ needs.

On March 21st 2017, The Vietnam War Veterans Recognition Act of 2017 passed the House without amendment. The Bill S.305 includes National Vietnam War Veterans Day, March 29, among those days on which the flag should especially be displayed.
