    About The Packers

The Green Bay Packers were founded in August 11, 1919 by Earl “Curly” Lambeau and George Whitney Calhoun. The Packers compete in the NFL as a member team of the league’s NFC North Division. The team played their home games at Lambeau Field since 1957.

The Packers is the only non-profit and community owned major league professional sports team based in the US, it is also the third oldest franchise in the NFL. They are also the last of the “small town teams”, which were common on the National Football League in the 1920s and 1930s. The Packers played against other semi-pro teams based in Wisconsin and the Midwest between 1919 and 1920. In 1921 the club joined the American Professional Football Association.

The Green Bay Packers is by far the smallest major league professional sports market in North America, however their fan base and media base extends to Milwaukee. As a matter of fact, they have played selected home games in Milwaukee between 1933 and 1994. The Packers was still ranked by Forbes as the world’s 26th most valuable sports franchise in 2016, despite its small market. The Packers have a value of $2.35 billion.

During their 98 years of existence, the Packers have won 13 league championships (the most in the history of NFL), including 9 pre-Super Bowl NFL titles and 4 Super Bowl championships.

The Minnesota Vikings, Detroit Lions, and Chicago Bears are known to be rivals with the Packers. The Packers-Bears rivalry is one of the oldest rivalries in the history of NFL. These two teams have been rivals since 1921.

    History of the Packers Logo

    • 1951 – 1955

The Packers’ first logo has the word mark “PACKERS” in green and yellow border. Behind the word mark is an orange football with yellow outline in between two orange goal posts.

    • 1956 – 1961

The Packers changed their logo in 1956 and the new logo features a quarterback, the number 41 is on its jersey and is about to throw a football. Behind the quarterback is the state of Wisconsin in green. The quarterback and the state of Wisconsin are drawn inside a football.

    • 1961 – 1979

The Packers changed their logo once again in 1961, and this time they completely changed the appearance of the logo and made their logo simple. They introduced the oval “G” logo. The new logo was created by Packers equipment manager Gerald “Dad” Braisher for Lombardi.

    • 1980 – Present

The team redesigned the logo in 1980, in which they only added a yellow border on the oval.

With the Cheeseheads screaming from their seats, you'll wear your handmade Packers bracelet while you watch Aaron Rodgers throw another touchdown pass.
