About the Chicago Bears
The Chicago Bears were established in 1919, in Decatur, Illinois. They were originally named the Decatur Staleys. They moved to Chicago in 1921 and the club was renamed the Chicago Staleys. In 1922, the team name was changed from Staleys to Bears. The Bears compete in the NFL as a member club of the league’s NFC North Division. They are one of the two remaining franchises from the NFL’s founding in 1920.
The Chicago Bears have been around for 98 years and throughout these years they have won nine NFL championships, including one Super Bowl. They have recorded more victories than any other franchise in the NFL. The Bears have the most retired jersey numbers and they have the most number of players inducted in the Pro Football Hall of Fame.
The Bears played their home games at Wrigley Field through the 1970 season; they currently play their home games at Soldier Field. They are headquartered at Halas Hall which is located in the Chicago suburb of Lake Forest, Illinois.
